  Amid the race to develop a   Covid-19 vaccine , Russian President Vladimir Putin launched a  coronavirus vaccine , touted as the world's first such vaccine, too. The registration of the vaccine lays ground for mass inoculation even as the final stages of clinical trials to test safety and efficacy continue. The announcement came in the wake of the novel coronavirus pandemic that has infected more than 20 million people and killed nearly 750,000 worldwide, thus, crippling world economies. Russia dubbed its newly launched vaccine against coronavirus " Sputnik V " after the Soviet satellite, the head of the country's sovereign wealth fund said, as per reports. Kirill Dmitriev, the head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund which finances the vaccine project, said Phase 3 trials would start on Wednesday, industrial production was expected from September and that 20 countries had pre-ordered more than a billion doses, AFP reported.

Vizag has been witnessing an increase in the number of coronavirus cases over the past few weeks. The district tally stood at 571, as 41 new cases were  reported  on Wednesday. With the coronavirus cases surging in Vizag district, the authorities have been demarcating areas of coronavirus incidence as containment zones. Furthermore, restrictions on the activity and movement in the region are being imposed in these zones. Currently, there are 124 containment zones identified in Vizag. The containment zones list in Vizag further classified as Very Active Clusters, Active Clusters, and Dormant Clusters. The aforementioned categories indicate the status of the demarcated areas. If a case has been reported in an area in the past six days, then the cluster will be categorised under very active. If a COVID-19 case hasn’t been reported in a containment zone/cluster in the past 6-14 days, it comes under the active category. स्पेशल ट्रेन चलाने के बाद अब रेल मंत्रालय ने मेल और एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनें चलाने का संकेत दिया है. रेल मंत्रालय से मिल रहे संकेतों के मुताबिक श्रमिक और स्पेशल की तर्ज पर अब मेल एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन भी चलाई जा सकती हैं. स्पेशल राजधानी ट्रेनों के बाद अब रेल मंत्रालय स्पेशल मेल और एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनें चलाने की तैयारी कर रहा है. इन ट्रेनों के लिए टिकटों की बुकिंग आईआरसीटीसी की वेबसाइट से ही हो सकेगी. इन ट्रेनों में वेटिंग टिकट तो मिलेगा, लेकिन तत्काल या प्रीमियम तत्काल टिकट नहीं मिलेगा, हालांकि वेटिंग टिकटों की संख्या भी तय कर दी गई है. इसके अलावा मौजूदा स्पेशल ट्रेनों में वेटिंग टिकटें मिलेंगी, ये वेटिंग टिकटें 15 मई से की जाने वाली बुकिंग में मिलेंगी. सीमित संख्या में वेटिंग टिकट भी मिलेगा रेल मंत्रालय से जारी सर्कुलर के मुताबिक 22 मई से चलने वाली स्पेशल ट्रेनों में वेटिंग लिस्ट में बुकिंग का प्रावधान किया है. वेटिंग लिस्ट न सिर्फ अभी चल रही स्पेशल ट्रेनों में बल्कि दूसरी मेल और एक्सप्रेस ट्रेनों में भी मिलेगी. हालांकि ऐसी ट्रेनों की घोषणा अभी नहीं की गई है. रेलवे के मुताबिक AC 3 टियर में 100 वेटिंग

विशाखापट्टनम   आंध्र प्रदेश के विशाखापट्टनम स्थित एक फैक्ट्री में गुरुवार की सुबह अचानक स्टाइरीन गैस लीक (Styrene Gas leakage) होने से बड़ा हादसा हो गया। एनडीआरएफ ने बताया है कि गैस लीक की इस घटना में अब तक 11 लोगों की मौत हो चुकी है। यह हादसा विशाखापत्तनम के आरआर वेंकटपुरम गांव में हुआ। गांव की एलजी पॉलिमर उद्योग (LG Polymers Industry) में हुए इस हादसे में अभी 800 लोग अस्पताल में भर्ती हैं। काफी लोगों को प्राथमिक उपचार के बाद अस्‍पताल से छुट्टी दे दी गई थी। हालांकि अभी भी कई मरीजों की हालत नाजुक है।  प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने घटना को लेकर राष्ट्रीय आपदा प्रबंधन प्राधिकरण (NDMA) अधिकारियों के साथ बैठक की। बैठक में गृहमंत्री अमित शाह और रक्षामंत्री राजनाथ सिंह भी शामिल रहे। इस गैस कांड के बाद आंध्र प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री वाईएस जगनमोहन रेड्डी ने ऐलान किया कि प्रत्‍येक मृतक के परिवार को एक करोड़ रुपये की अनुग्रह राशि और जो लोग वेंटिलेटर पर हैं उनके परिजनों को 10 लाख रुपये की मदद दी जाएगी। वहीं आंध्र प्रदेश डीजीपी दामोदर गौतम सवांग ने बताया कि अब गैस को बेअसर कर दिया गया है। उन्‍होंन

Head constable Shiv Chander Ram is reported to have shot dead his senior and sub-inspector R P Singh before he killed himself using a service weapon. A jawan allegedly killed his senior, a sub-inspector, before taking his own life in a fratricidal incident at a BSF camp in Rajasthan, officials said. They said the incident took place at about 6:30 AM at border out post 'Renuka' in Sriganganagar district of Rajasthan where a unit of the 125th battalion of the force is deployed. Head constable Shiv Chander Ram is reported to have shot dead his senior and sub-inspector R P Singh before he killed himself using a service weapon, a senior official of the border guarding force said. The total number of  coronavirus cases in India  has climbed to 195 after over 35 new cases, highest in a single day, emerged from the various parts of the country. At present, there are 171 active  coronavirus patients  in the country, according to the data released by Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The total cases in India include 163 Indians and 32 foreign nationals. India reported its fourth casualty of COVID-19 infection on Thursday. The Centre on Thursday confirmed that a 72-year-old man, who had returned from Germany via Italy, died in Punjab due to coronavirus infection. The three other deaths were reported from Delhi, Karnataka and Maharashtra. The cases in Maharashtra rose to 48 where as Kerala witnessed as many as 28 coronavirus patients. Delhi has recorded 17 coronavirus cases till date. Telangana saw the highest number of reported cases on Wednesday after a group of seven Indonesians and a youth, who returned from Scotland, confirmed positive with  COVI

A man who returned from Italy to Nellore last week tested positive for  coronavirus , making it the first such case in Andhra Pradesh, the Medical and Health Department said here on Thursday. The person developed dry cough and was admitted to the isolation ward in the government hospital at Nellore on his return from the European Nation on March 6. "Tests on his blood samples at the virology lab in Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences in Tirupati confirmed positive for  COVID-19 ," the Health department said in a release. "The patient is stable and all his vitals are normal and he has recovered from the symptoms.He is keeping good health and will be discharged after 14-days on retesting the sample," it said. Five other people whom the patient came in contact with on return from Italy have been identified and were brought under hospital quarantine as per protocol, the release added.
